What is positive psychology?
Positive psychology focuses on studying the positive aspects of the human experience, such as happiness, well-being, contentment, resilience, creativity and virtue. Rather than focusing on mental disorders and problem prevention, positive psychology seeks to understand and promote the strengths and virtues that enable people to live meaningfully and fulfilled lives.
Positive psychology is based on empirical evidence and uses a variety of research methods to study positive processes and outcomes in different contexts, such as work, education, family, and community.
The goal is to develop a person’s positive skills and traits, such as gratitude, hope, empathy, resilience and self-esteem, and to help them use these resources to cope with life’s challenges and improve their emotional and psychological well-being.
